Holiday Lighting Installation in Edina, MN
Measured to your house, hung by the Squad, gone before you think about the ladder
Edina has houses that were built to be looked at, in a city that is dark by a quarter to five in December. The Squad measures your roofline, cuts the strands to fit it, hangs them before the deep freeze, keeps them lit through the season, and takes them down in the spring. You never touch a frozen roof.
How the Squad runs an Edina holiday install
Every Edina install starts at your house, not in a catalog. A Squad member walks the property with you and measures every run you want lit: main roofline, garage, gables, dormers, the porch, the columns. We talk through warm white versus color, whether you want the big oak in the front yard wrapped, and what the house should look like from the sidewalk on a Country Club street at six in the evening. Then we cut the strands to those measurements. The lights that go up in November were built for your roof and nobody else's.
Install day is the Squad's job, start to finish. Our crew, our ladders, our harnesses, our insurance. You do not need to be home. Timers are set to Edina sunset, every connection is sealed against wet snow, and you get a text when the display is live.
Installed before the deep freeze, by design
The Squad's rule for the Twin Cities is simple: get the install done while the roof is dry and the crew can work safely, because the window does not stay open. Minnesota does not ease into winter. A dry November week can be followed by a twenty-below stretch that makes shingles brittle, gutters iced, and ladders dangerous. We schedule Edina installs to land ahead of that, and we book the route from the front, so homeowners who call early choose their dates and homeowners who call late get what is left.
Once a real cold snap sets in, we keep working on days the roof is safe, but the pace slows and the choices narrow. The honest advice is to get on the calendar before the forecast forces the decision.
Clip-only attachment, whatever the house is made of
Country Club has the original Tudors and colonials with slate, cedar, and trim that has been maintained for ninety years. Rolling Green and Indian Hills have the big wooded lots and long rooflines. White Oaks and the newer builds along the Highway 100 side have composite trim and seamless gutters. The Squad attaches the same way on all of them: clips sized to the surface. Shingle clips, gutter clips, fascia clips. No staples, no nails, no screws, no adhesive on painted or stained wood.
On slate we never touch the slate. On cedar shake we use a clip that holds without splitting. When the display comes down there is nothing to patch, repaint, or explain. The house looks like itself in April.
What is included
- On-site measurement and design at your home
- Commercial-grade LED roofline lighting, custom-cut, in warm white, cool white, or color
- Optional wreaths, garland, column wraps, tree and shrub wraps, and landscape uplighting
- Installation by the Squad with timers set to local sunset
- In-season service if a section goes dark, at no additional charge
- Spring takedown on the Squad's ladders and schedule
- Labeled storage so next season is a re-hang of the same design
Most Edina clients keep the same display for years and add to it. Because the strands are cut to your house, adding a tree wrap or a back-patio run later is simple.
The takedown is where people get hurt
Nobody falls off a roof in November. They fall off in January, when the gutters are frozen solid, the shingles are glazed, and the lights have to come down anyway. That is the part of the job the Squad most wants you to hand over. Our takedown crews work through the winter and into spring on days the roof is safe to walk. We pull the display, coil and label every strand with your name, and store it until next fall. If an ice week pushes your date, we tell you and reschedule. We do not put a crew on a roof that is not safe, and we would rather you did not either.
If the annual install and takedown is the part you want to stop thinking about entirely, the Squad also installs permanent LED roofline systems that stay up year-round and switch to holiday color from an app.
Warm white or color? What Edina streets tend to do
Country Club and Morningside lean classic: warm white along the roofline, garland on the entry, a wreath in every front window, maybe one wrapped tree. It suits the houses. Rolling Green and Indian Hills, with the wooded lots and long driveways, tend to add landscape uplighting and tree wraps so the house reads from the road. The newer neighborhoods are where color and animated accents show up more. None of that is a rule. It is what the Squad sees on the route, and we are happy to go against it if you want a Country Club Tudor in full color. The point of measuring and designing at your house is that the display is yours, not a package pulled off a shelf.
