August or September. Downtown is a December destination, which means every business on Main Street wants to look excellent at the same time and the block fills fast. Commercial jobs also need a site walk and a design before they can be scheduled, and if you want a coordinated look with neighboring businesses that takes lead time to organize. Our install season is October through early December.

Can you light a historic brick storefront without damaging it?

Yes, and it is the specific thing we plan hardest for here. Nothing is stapled, nailed, or glued. Attachment is matched to the material and planned around period cornices, transoms, and original woodwork. Where a surface should not be attached to, we route the run differently and explain why rather than forcing a standard clip system onto a facade that predates it. We walk every attachment point with you before starting.

Can several businesses on the block coordinate one look?

Yes, and on a destination downtown it is worth doing. One design across multiple storefronts - consistent color temperature, consistent run heights, consistent treatment on awnings and transoms - makes the whole street read as intentional rather than as a dozen separate decisions. We can coordinate the design and phase the installs across the block.

Will you be in my doorway during December retail hours?

No. Downtown commercial installs are scheduled early mornings, evenings, or off-days, and crews and equipment stay clear of entrances during business hours. Nobody's December Saturday gets a ladder in front of it.

Is permanent lighting appropriate on a historic building?

Frequently it is the better answer, and not only on cost. A permanent LED channel under the cornice or eave is less visually intrusive than a seasonal strand run and disappears in daylight. It also ends the annual cycle of ladders and lifts touching original masonry and woodwork every October and January - fewer hands on the building, permanently. We assess each facade individually before recommending it.

Do you do residential on the bluff and in the valley?

Yes. Bluff properties have grade changes, long valley sightlines, and mature trees, so we design to the actual approach and the actual view rather than to a standard roofline package. Tree uplighting and landscape work often carry more of the plan on a bluff lot than an extra roofline run would.

Do you take everything down and store it?

Yes, residential and commercial both. Takedown runs in the spring thaw window, scheduled around business hours for commercial. Materials come back to our facility labeled by property so year two is a re-hang against a known design.

How does commercial pricing work for a storefront?

Based on facade linear footage, height and access, and scope - roofline or cornice only versus a full treatment with awnings, transoms, windows, and trees. Storefronts vary enormously even within one block, so we quote after walking the building. Most downtown clients move to an annual agreement after year one, which locks design, schedule, and pricing.
