The Squad has a hard install window in the Twin Cities and we do not flex it. Here is why.
Mid-October to Early December
Temperatures in this window typically range from the 50s down to the 20s. Clips snap onto shingles cleanly. Ladders set up safely. Crews can work full days without losing dexterity to frostbite. Lights themselves perform best when installed in this temperature range because the wiring stays flexible.
After the First Hard Freeze
Once nights consistently drop below 10F, several things change at once:
- Asphalt shingles get brittle and a clip can crack them
- Plastic wire jackets stiffen and crack under handling
- Ladders ice over from snowmelt and refreeze
- Crews cannot work safely for more than 30 to 40 minutes at a stretch
- Roof access becomes legitimately dangerous, not just uncomfortable
What This Means for You
Book early. Our calendar opens in late summer and tends to be full by mid-October. If you call in December, we will be honest with you - we may already be done for the season. We would rather turn down a job than do it poorly or unsafely.
Commercial Clients on Annual Contracts
If your property is on an annual contract, your install date is locked the previous year. You always get a slot. This is one of the most-cited reasons commercial property managers move to contract pricing with the Squad - predictability through a season where everything else is unpredictable.
What If I Missed the Window?
We will get you scheduled for next year and offer to walk your property in late summer to lock things in early. For commercial properties we will absolutely have a conversation about an annual contract that guarantees you a date.
